I rather enjoy starting things from scratch. A new event, a new recipe, a new hairstyle on my girls... new ideas excite me and spark all sorts of inspiration.
Sometimes though, we're forced to start from scratch and having a blank slate thrust upon us can be intimidating. This happened to me recently. For years I've had the same website and the same blog and I worked hard to boost my Google ranking by keeping my content new and fresh. We've had lots of visitors to our site and our SEO was solid for years. A few months ago I decided that our page needed a facelift and that was the time to do it (given that our busy wedding season hadn't started and we had time to dedicate to the project). So I went about finding the perfect solution to our website rut and after many hours of research and design I launched the new site just a few short weeks ago. BAM! Instantly, we lost all of our blog content and our 1st Page Google Ranking disappeared over night. I'll say, "bummer", but bare in mind that I'm using it as a euphemism. I've since spent countless hours trying to recover my lost content so as to get my ranking back up (currently we're hanging out on page 5... who browses all the way to page 5?). But more importantly I want to get all that wonderful, creative, and mentally stimulating information (our blog was pretty great if I do say so myself) back "on the line" (ha! I watched "The Internship" last night and that phrase is still cracking me up today... feel free to shake your head in disapproval, it's okay). (PS: This paragraph has far too many parentheses...). All that being said, I GIVE UP! I'm starting from scratch. Here it is, new blog, fresh start. I'll be posting images and stories from some of our favourite past events as well as ideas, tips, and tricks for designing a fabulous event! I look forward to your comments and queries as we begin this new journey together. If there is a particular topic that you would like me to write about please let me know! Wishing you all a fabulous fresh-start-Monday! Yours, Sophie Chief Imaginator, Sage Designs
