2015 marks our fourth year working with the prom teams at St Joe's and Holy Trinity in Cornwall and it continues to be one of our very favourite events every single year! It's not just the incredibly creative themes that we get to work with but it's the amazing staff who continue to work hard to bring this event together for their students every May. The work and planning that goes into these events rivals that of a wedding... and for those of you who have planned your own wedding you know what an undertaking it can be.
This year's theme was another great one! GATSBY!
Creating a design for the space came fairly quickly. The teacher's pulled tons of inspirational images and knew they wanted sequin, pearl, crystal, and feather details. The palette would be black, white, and gold (naturally) and the feeling would be fun and glamorous.
Our friend Beth, from Beth Photography was kind enough to come out to capture these beautiful images of the decor.
Naturally, the entrance had to make a statement. The schools built a large Gatsby entrance structure as the main focal point. The owner of the gorgeous vintage car graciously loaned the schools his vehicle for the space. We dressed it up with street lamps so the students would feel they were strolling down an old cobblestone street.
We dressed the entrance up even more with two large feather arrangements and an intricate satin & sequin backdrop.
Inside the room we had plenty of gatsby-esque decor... mirrors with quotes from the story sat behind the bar draped in pearls and large crystal curtains draped the walls at either end of the room (to mimic flapper dresses).
Another year complete! There's already talk of what next year's theme might be... someone even suggested Cirque du Soleil.... how fun would that be?!
Thanks for stopping by!
